Q'omer is a technology-based social enterprise that adds to its scientific and commercial work the development of training and awareness workshops, enhancing the approach to Sustainable Development.
From the area of Social Action and awareness, a training workshop on sustainability has been developed from June 29th to July 4th at the Science Park of the University of Valencia. The workshop "Sustainability matters: practical approach of how to contribute to a greener living", has been developed in coordination with EducaProjectsa Valencian company of European mobility. This workshop is part of the social awareness and development education actions developed by Q'omer, which is also aligned with the priorities of the Erasmus+ program and is linked to the Green Deal strategy at European level.
This is the second edition of the "Sustainability Matters" workshop that has trained 10 teachers from an educational center in the Polish municipality of Sejny in the framework of an Erasmus+ mobility program, through which, in addition to getting to know the city of Valencia and its surroundings, they have been able to approach training content related to Sustainable Development.
The aim of this training initiative is to acquire knowledge, experiences and identify good practices that can be transferred to their educational center, instilling greater environmental responsibility among teachers and students. The course has had an essentially practical approach, where students have been provided with tools and methods to design their own initiatives that promote awareness of the environment, and the responsibility that, both individually and collectively, we have in relation to the care of the planet.
A social business model: Qomer
Q'omer develops these workshops from the perspective of sustainability with a human rights approach. Concepts such as Circular Economy, Climate Change, Biodiversity, or also the Sustainable Development Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were addressed in this practical workshop that applies social innovation tools to promote collaborative learning. This training has awakened interest in these issues, provided new tools and resources and allowed the sharing of good practices, generating spaces for debate and reflection on issues of global interest.
This workshop is in addition to other actions developed by Qomer as a social business model, where critical thinking is encouraged on issues related to environmental social responsibility and Sustainable Development in general.
