It is obtained from the bark of cat’s claw (Uncaria tomentosa). It contains alkaloids, along with glycosides, tannins, flavonoids, sterol fractions, and other compounds.

It has anti-inflammatory properties. Reduces rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Immunostimulant, antiviral and antiradical effect.

It is a liana from the Peruvian jungle and tropical areas of South and Central America. Indigenous groups such as the Asháninkas used this plant to improve their health.
